    Under-Graduate (UG) Courses:

    Bachelor of Science (Honours):

    B.Sc. Honours, a three years’ undergraduate degree course, is designed in such a way so that advanced theoretical and research skills develop among students pursuing it. It helps from building of an advanced professional or academic career to facilitating the students to pursue an independent research project in thearea of their interest under supervision and guidance of academic staff member. It better prepares the students to pursue advanced Post-graduation courses in the respective discipline. Those who have this degree are given preference in jobs and admissions in postgraduate courses as compared to ones with a B.Sc. (General) degree. From the very first session, the University offers B.Sc. (Honours) as an undergraduate course in the following disciplines;

    1.Physics: One of the fundamental disciplines and a natural science, it endeavours to understand the laws governing behaviour of universe. Therefore, study of matter, its motion, energy and force constitute cornerstones of this discipline. With an in-depth knowledge of this subject and research orientation one gets natural edge to join premier institutes of India viz. National Physical Laboratory, PUSA, New Delhi, Physical Research Lab (“PRL”) Ahmedabad, Saha Nuclear Research Institute Calcutta, Institute of Physics (“IOP”), Bhubneshwar, Indian Institute of Science (“IISc”) Bangalore, Nuclear Science Centre, Delhi, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (“TIFR”), Defence Research Development Organization (“DRDO”) etc. and Universities,most of which have collaboration with reputed universities and institutions,across the globe.

    2.Chemistry: A physical science and also known to be central science as it connects various natural sciences, is a study of matter and its dimensions.Its knowledge enables a person to understand pros and cons of wide range of eatables, liquid & solids, articles and gadgets being used in daily life.  Endowed with Inherent understanding of the environment, ingredients of medicines, properties of water, screens of electronic gadgets, fruit ripening material, etc. enable a person to join the sectors dealing with pharmaceuticals, industry, water testing, pollution, environment and forensic etc.

    3.Zoology: This branch of science which deals with the study of animal kingdom offers an opportunity to pursue Master of Science in Zoology, Zoology (Honours) Applied Zoology, Post Graduate Diploma in Life. Besides, job opportunities are available as animal and wildlife educators, zoo keeper, animal rehabilitator, curator, documentary maker, researcher, animal behaviourists, conservationist, animal trainers, forensic experts, animal caretakers, wildlife biologists, animal breeders, veterinarian, laboratory technicians and in zoos, aquaria, television channels, veterinary hospitals, animal clinics, colleges and universities, research, wildlife management firms, fisheries and aquaculture, pest control companies, animal care-taking providers, museums and natural reserves etc.

    4.Botany:It is a plant science that focuseswhich studies vascular and flowering plants.It enables a person in developing insight about burning issues like global warming & environmental problems and open gates of employment in the field of plants, research, and industry and also as consultant, ecologist, environmentalist, herbarium, horticulturalist and wide range of top notch companies.

    5.Mathematics: This being one of the fundamental disciplines is essential for research, numerical analysis in computer system, design and software programming, information and data processing. With an honours degree in Mathematics, one can pursue an MCA (without doing BCA), MBA in Finance and other specialized courses like MFC (Masters in Finance and Control) and MBE (Masters in Business Economics) etc. One has an edge in almost all the entrance examinations including CAT, GMAT, CDS, bank, LIC, Railways, and SSC etc.

    6.Biotech: Initially the discipline emerged as an application of technological knowhow in the biological fields. However, the last one century, this discipline has vastly expanded its scope. Today it is one of the most sought after disciplines endowed with potential to make youth employable in the ever fastest enlarging corporate sector. Combining in it the concepts and practices of biology and technology, its courses enable the students to analyse and interpret the phenomenon encompassing two significant fields, thereby comprehending problems, national, transnational and global, and finding suitable solution.

    Bachelor of Commerce (Honours):

    It is an undergraduate degree designed to inculcate business acumen in students. Its studies enlighten students about various dimensions of business and its environment,business communication, economy, statistics, accounting and commercial activities. Its study offers an opportunity to enhance knowledge and develop skills in the areas viz. Human resources, financial sector, marketing, operations, insurance, information technology and legal areas etc. A large number of career options are available to the students of this discipline. One can opt to be a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”), Chartered Accountant (“CA”), Company Secretary (“CS”) or can becomea member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants (“ICWAI”), banking services, financial and accountancy services in corporate sector, or can subsequently pursue a degree of Master of Business Administration (“MBA”), Master of CommerceorMaster of Tourism Administration apart from teaching and other competitive examinations. Besides, from a potential employer’s perspective, one can enhance ability in achieving complex goals, meeting deadlines, investigating independently using resources effectively.


    Bachelor of Arts (Honours):

    Traditionally it has attracted a large chunk of students who wished to pursue higher studies. It continues to be a popular choice among college-bound students even today. It has a vast range of disciplines in its kitty, which most of the students study at school level. The University offers several B.A (Honours) courses which are as under;

    1.Economics: With the globe turning into a market, the opportunities for students of economics are increasing as they are better equipped with knowledge of production, consumption, distribution and exchange of goods and services, economic policies, marketing, banking, international trade, financial institutions, price policy, market structure, international relations being determined by economic considerations. The students have opportunities of employment in economic services, banking, market management, agricultural economics, insurance, private business, industriesand human resource management etc. Courses of this discipline have been designed in such a way so that their employability increases in the job market

    2.Political Science: Students pursuing this course become live to the fact that the entire world comprises of about two hundred nation states. Most of them, at one or the other stage of history, experimented monarchical, aristocratic and democratic forms of government and. Their affairs are governed by the provisions of constitution of respective states. Twentieth century witnessed emergence of dozens of global and transnational institutions like United Nations, Human Rights Commission, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (“NATO”), Commonwealth, Association of South East Asian Nations (“ASEAN”) and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (“SAARC”) etc. which overtly or covertly tend to limit sovereignty of states. Besides, knowledge about peculiarity of functioning of various developed and neighbouring democracies or other systems of government enable students to have comparative analysis developing deeper insight about polity from national, international and global perspectives. Such understanding enhances their level of general knowledge and awareness giving them cutting edge in competitive examinations and even day-to-day conversation.

    3.Sociology: This social science seeks to deepen our understanding of human society, social relationship, social processes, institutions and groups unravelling new truths about them. It has emerged as one of the most sought after disciplines across the globe and in India. Sociology draws our attention to the intrinsic worth and dignity of human beings, dynamics of culture, social structures and systems which help us in offering solution to socio-economic problems humankind is facing today. By viewing world as developed, developing and underdeveloped societies, understanding urban, rural & tribal communities, analysing demographic dynamics of societies and functionalities of ethos & eidos, norms and values, beliefs and practices of the societies, this social science becomes indispensable for understanding and planning of society. Opportunities are available to become a consultant, career counsellor, parole worker, social worker, urban planner, personal manger, social critic and researcher etc. With the growing adoption of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ in India, demand of Sociologists in industry is on the rise.

    4.Hindi: The official and national language of India, Hindi is spoken by over four hundred million people in India and has the third highest number of speakers on the globe. Its study offers an opportunity to learn literature of this language and its sub-languages e.g. Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Brajbhasha and Bundeli etc. After completing honours degree, one can choose domains like Ekanki, Kavya, Upnyas, Kahani and Nivandha. Apart from becoming language officer and translator, one can choose to write articles etc. in this language.

    5.English: Originally a Germanic language, Englishhas become lingua franca and is one of the six languages of United Nations. Its dynamism and adaptability can be gauged from the fact that the treasure of its words has crossed one million mark. It has emerged as language of the educated class in India. Its study offers an opportunity to read literature, sharpen insights about various situations, enhance understanding of life, enables a person to be more interactive and strengthens communication skills. It’s a language of internet as most of the web pages on the Internet are in it which have a huge amount of information and even overwhelming majority of journals written in it. Whether it is case of advancing business in the world or going to the job market across the globe, English is a key to success and its knowledge with command on written and verbal communication is necessary.

    Post-Graduate (PG) Course:

    The University is live to the ever growing army of unemployed youth in the country. The energies of the youth, the bedrock of a nation and inexhaustible human resource could be optimally utilized and they have job offer in their hands on the day they acquire degree from this university, keeping this fact in view, the University offers the following postgraduate study programmes  from the very first Academic Session onwards in the following;

    1.Master of Business Administration ("MBA"): Mushrooming growth of companies accompanied by rapid industrialisation sought scientific approaches to management.It resulted in Master of Business Administration in a number of areas viz. human resources, marketing, sales, operations, accounting and finance etc. It has emerged as a modern post graduate course in India and abroad. Holder of this professional degree has a wide range of job options ranging from information and technology to financial sector, health to consultancy services, real estate to sales and marketing. Personnel with most of the academic backgrounds, B. Sc., B. Com, B.A., B. Tech and what not opt for this degree programme.

    2.Master of Social Work ("MSW"): This is an academic as well as professional discipline which seeks to facilitate welfare of individuals, communities and societies by addressing issues of social justice, human rights and human dignity at micro, mezzo and macro levels whereas a social worker seeks to help vulnerable sections of societies. A social worker can choose children, elderly persons, people with disabilities, patients or even people struggling with illness or can operate as a child and family social worker, healthcare social worker, medical social worker, geriatric social worker, mental health and substance use social worker, school social worker, community social worker, group social worker, public policy social worker, administrative social worker and research social worker etc.
