Professor Prasoon Dutta Singh is a distinguished academician of Sanskrit Language and Literature who is presently Professor and Head at Department of Sanskrit, School of Humanities and Languages, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Bihar. He has accomplished his Primary Education from Saran, Bihar and concluded his Higher Education - B.A (Hons), M.A (Sanskrit), Ph.D, and D.litt from B.R.A, Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. His areas of interest and research are in the fields of Indian Poetics, Vedic Literature, Linguistics and Indian Philosophy. He has got published more than 40 Research Papers in recognised research journals based on multifarious dimensions of Sanskrit Language and Literature. Prof. Singh has been authored and edited more than 12 books on Sanskrit literature, Poetics, Dharmashashtra and Indian Philosophy. He has successfully supervised and guided 3 Ph.D and 1 Post Doctoral Fellowship under his direction. At present 2 Ph.D Research scholars are pursuing their research work under his supervision.
Prof. Singh has also successfully concluded 3 Research Projects sponsored and funded by UGC.

Prof. Singh is an elected member of Executive Committee for 46th, 47th, 48th, 49th 50th and 51st Sessions of All India Oriental Conference consecutively. He had been also the Treasurer of AIOC in the 49th Session at Somnath, Gujarat. He has diligently delivered lectures and gave key note address and presented papers in almost 50 National, International and World Conferences at distinguished Universities. Prior to his present designation Prof. Prasoon Dutta Singh has served for 12 years at the Department of Sanskrit, and also served at the administrative office of being the University NSS Coordinator of kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand.
